In my Kitchen
Spring is finally here and that means asparagus, a lot of asparagus. I bought this handy dandy asparagus keeper. It’s made by President’s Choice. I couldn’t find the product information online but it keeps your asparagus upright in your fridge to keep it fresh. I found mine at No Frill’s.
Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) at Rainbow Heritage Garden
I’ve decided this summer to join a CSA. What is this? A CSA is basically a subscription to fresh farm produce all season long. You purchase a share of the harvest at the beginning of the year. All throughout the season you get baskets of produce. This business model allows small local farms to benefit financially against industrial agriculture. As a shareholder, you agree to share the benefits and risks of the growing season. This is becoming more and more important to me. I want fresh, organic produce. I also want to know how my food is grown. This is the easiest way to support this.
What I’m watching
Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead
This is a documentary of Joe Cross and his weight loss journey. He is sick with an autoimmune disease and has been to conventional doctors with no success. He uses juicing to help heal his body. It’s a good documentary on how we as a society should be eating more nutrient dense food and less processed food.
